BILL & ANN AT HOME IN NEW YORK
Photos of Bill & Ann from around New York, or staying at home in their beautiful apartment at 25 Central Park West; they had an incredible view of the city from their patio.
ANN'S BIRTHDAY, 1959
For Ann's 31st birthday, Bill asked her to join him in Manhattan for a photo shoot. He said he had seen a large boat docked there and he wanted to photograph her dressed up in front of it. Once they got there, Ann saw 100 guests onboard, including her family and closest friends, as well as a number of Bill's business associates and friends. The boat circled Manhattan all night, with catering plus a live band to provide the entertainment.

Bill was regularly commuting to California each week to host Place the Face. He usually just came to California to host the live broadcast and then flew straight back to New York after it was over, but apparently, on at least one occasion, he stuck around for an extra day and went on a road trip with his camera. We think these photos came from more than one trip; a few of them appear to be from Palm Springs and the surrounding areas. Others appear to be closer to Lake Tahoe, which is much further north.

Ann simply labeled this as "Lucerne" in her box of slides, but a number of photos show the Cullens in England and Denmark, too.

Bill and Ann spent part of the month sailing up and down the river on their boat Sequester, apparently as part of a group of several boating enthusiasts. There are a number of faces in these photos that we don't recognize.

Given that date, this is almost certainly the last time Bill and Ann visited Los Angeles for a vacation before moving to the area the following year.

Ann didn't make a note on the slides of where they were. We think it may be another trip to the Bahamas.

We're guessing on the date. As for the location, we know that for sure from a note that Ann jotted on one of the slides; they spent this trip at the Wauwinet, a luxury hotel.

We're not positive about where these photos were taken. Bill and Ann are either fairly close to their home on Casiano Road in Los Angeles, or they're in Carmel, California. But either way, here's what life after television looked like for Bill. Ann takes art classes while he wanders around the property snapping pictures.

The only other person in these photos whose identity we're certain of is Martin Goodman, Bill's agent, who also sported horn-rimmed glasses.
The first photo in this album is pretty funny--an employee at a five-star restaurant would offer to photograph visitors and mail the photo home so it would be there when they returned from their vacation. Bill was aware that he was caught in the background when this couple got photographed, and when the Cullens returned to New York, they found that the photographer had gone ahead and mailed a copy of that photo to them.
